10 TIPS TO GET FIT

Through almost twenty years in the fitness industry, I have seen how health magazine articles help out many people, but also leave many others in confusion. Keeping it simple is always a great strategy towards success. While I could create 100 different “top 10” lists, I wanted to focus on some very basic, easy to follow principles.

Here are the 10 tips I’m recommending today, to help you reach your health goals in 2023 :

1. Set realistic goals. Setting realistic goals is the best way to achieve success. When it comes to fitness, start small and work your way up. Aim to walk daily after dinner, as opposed to losing 40 pounds.

2. Get enough sleep. Sleep is essential for both physical and mental health. Make sure you get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

3. Eat healthy. Eating healthy is the key to success when it comes to fitness. Try to focus on whole foods, like fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

4. Exercise regularly. Exercise is essential for good health. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day, four to five days a week.

5. Find an activity you enjoy. Find an activity you enjoy and stay motivated. This could be anything from swimming to running to yoga.

6. Stay hydrated. Staying hydrated is essential for good health and performance. Try to keep your water intake up throughout the day.

7. Stretch often. Stretching is important for keeping your muscles and joints healthy. Aim to stretch for 10-15 minutes a day

8. Schedule breaks. Breaks are important for recharging and resetting your body. Make sure you take time to rest and recover. Recovery is a non-stop effort, and key towards health.

9. Stay positive. Staying positive is key to achieving your fitness goals. Believe in yourself and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. Plan for a 5k race, a 2 day hike/camp, an obstacle course race, have an objective to believe you can accomplish.

10. Have fun. Above all else, have fun! Fitness and health should be enjoyable, not something you dread. There is always a class, an instructor, or a group with the right energy for you!
